Google now has a system called page rank. The more links pointing to your site will give you a higher page rank Google determines a web sites page rank a lot like receiving votes, a link from page 1 to page 2 would be considered a vote. The quality and relevance of the site pointing to yours is taken into consideration as well.
If you have questions as to who has a high page rank, make sure to visit Google and download their Google tool bar. With the tool bar downloaded, just navigate to a site and you will be able to view the page rank in the tool bar.
How do you have other websites link to yours?
1. Have content on your site worthy for other people to link to.
2. Develop links from people you already do business with. Because you already have a business relationship with these companies or individuals, you are more likely to be able to request and receive a link from their website.
3. One last way to increase your link popularity is to join in newsletters and online forums that are similar to your website.
