Pyxlin, the new blook on the block.

At FamilyLearn Inc we are finishing development on our pyxlin project. Pyxlin is private journaling from pixel to print:
- Keep your private journal online.
- Include your favorite photos.
- When you are ready you click “publish” and pyxlin will send you a beautiful hardbound copy of your journal.
Although we have designed pyxlin as a start-to-finish personal journaling solution, it will also include a variety of technical mash-ups to help you bring together your journal. Pyxlin will be released with the ability to drop your flickr’ photos right into your journal. Later pyxlin also has plans to include, photobucket and smugmug’s api’s as well.
Pyxlin, the new blook on the block.
Is your blog your personal journal or private diary? A recent study showed that 37 percent of blogs are personal journals. Technorati’s most recent estimate of blogs world-wide is over 70 million! This means that approximately 25.9 millions blogs are used as personal journals or diaries. For the same reason that pyxlin is developing a MS Word Import, we are planning to create a blog import for the purpose of easily sucking your personal journals and diaries from their blog form, and then converting them into readable books for your posterity. Unlike the retail blooks that our friends at Lulu and Blurb publish, pyxlin’s blooking will be focused solely on publishing the 25 million blogs that are used as personal journals. Basically, this means that if you keep a blog for the benefit of public readers (e.g., like Seth Godin, Paul Allen, or Mark Cuban), then you will want to publish with Lulu or Blurb. But if your blog is more personal and is just for you, family, and your posterity (e.g., daily experiences, lessons, family tree, and your personal stories), then you will probably be more interested in publishing with pyxlin.
Quality Publishing
Pyxlin will offer a cheap publishing option like Lulu and Blurb. But we are planning to focus on the higher standard of quality of library certified books. Most pyxlin journals will need to be built to last longer than bookstore quality books. In other words pyxlin’s prices will vary from plush leather-bound, gold embossed, thick photo quality paper journals to the very inexpensive cheap options similar to Lulu and Blurb. You can help us pick the pricing for pyxlin journals by taking this short survey. Official prices will be announced at the release of pyxlin. You can also make your journal with pyxlin and publish anywhere else you want. We won’t force you to publish with us.
Completely Online
Unique to any other typesetting system worldwide, pyxlin is online. This means there is nothing to download. On Wednesday I was speaking with a friend (70 years old) from church. He is moving to Beging China in July to work as a Christian service missionary. He was asking me about my work. I explained that we are developing a journaling system that you keep your private journal online, add your photos, and then publish your journal into a hardbound book. You could see the wheels turning in his head. “You mean that you can access it from any Internet connection in the world… like email?” I nodded. “Well, I am going to be in China for the next 18 months, traveling from place to place. Can I use pyxlin?” He will be starting his pyxlin journal as soon as it is released.
This is a screen shot of a pyxlin book as you see it while you edit it online. It looks like a book, not a blog or website.
